Unseen by the World, Seen by God: Living beyond the Fear

Updated: Mar 12

What are you scared of? For me, it was judgement, ridicule, rejection, embarrassment and being perceived in a negative way. Spiders too I suppose. These fears kept me isolated and trapped in my own head. Growing up I felt like I had to prove myself to everyone, because maybe if i was cool enough and pretty enough, I'd be liked, so I hid a part of myself and started wearing a mask. When in reality, once God started giving me wisdom, I was able to understand that the right people would come to me by simply existing not pretending to be someone I'm not. Giving my life to Jesus helped me rediscover my worth in him and no longer seek to be validated by other flawed people. So how did my perspective change?

Reading the Word: It might seem like an endless amount of boring stories but it's so much more than that. It's Gods love letter to us, a how to, and guide book on how to live. In the Word, you will find what God intended for you, your purpose and your life. You are valued and known intimately by God. "So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them" (Gen 1:27). Our value begins with the fact that we are made by the hand of the creator in His very image.

Gods thoughts toward you are wonderful. His love for you is relentless, immeasurable and infinite. He loves us so much that He allowed His own son to die in our place so that we could have life and He has given us a high calling as ambassadors to share His great love with others. In reading the Word, I've learned not just about myself, but about my Father. As time went on, I had a desire to please Him and to stop trying to do things my own way and relinquish all control, because it's not about following a bunch of rules, it's about having a relationship. Learning that God should be the center of our lives and not just a part of it helped me realign my priorities and because of that, I started facing my fears and sitting in the uncomfortability of it all because I had faith God would use it for His good. How do we let go of our fear, and trust in Him from now on?

Remember that You are Chosen: When we embrace that we are chosen by God, the fear of embarrassment fades because our identity is rooted in Him, not in others' opinions. (1 Peter 2:9)

Focus on Eternal, not Temporary Things: Instead of fearing peoples judgements, focus on what matters eternally; God's approval and His purpose for your life, not the approval of others who are not walking with Jesus. ( Col 3:2)

Trust in His Timing: Trusting God's timing allows you to let go of the fear of making mistakes or facing embarrassment, because we know He is working all things for our good. What's meant for you will never miss you and what misses you was never meant for you. (Jer 29:11)

Pray for Confidence and Peace: Prayer helps to not only relinquish fear but bring you closer to the Lord. He will speak to you if you let him talk, and that requires quiet time, completely abandoning all distractions, so He can share His wisdom and knowledge with you. In a society that is always chaotic and loud, sitting with the Lord whether I get answers or not brings me peace of mind. (Phil 4:6-7)

Rely on His strength: When we lean on God's strength instead of our own, we can face potential embarrassment and rejection with confidence, knowing He equips us for every challenge. He never leaves us, so there is no reason to fear.(Phil 4:13)

God told me 2025 is the year for my come up. A year of facing fears and dreaming big. He told me "Do it, even while scared." Even doing small stuff will help you eventually face big fears. I went to the mall this weekend by myself and ate at the food court, was I shaking uncontrollably yes, but I went, got out of bed and did something. I applied for one college on a limb and got accepted, now I'm starting this Spring, I talked to 5 people at my church this past Sunday and got coffee with an amazing girl because of it, I started this blog by using my platform to help others, where I talk about really vulnerable things which can be scary. All risks but have all given me a reward in some way. This is what God loves. He cannot work in our lives until WE do too. Maybe that break through you're waiting for starts with you making the first jump and God catching you and taking care of the rest. God did not create us with a spirit of fear, so don't let it take control over your life like it once did for me. Be courageous.

I really appreciate you putting your personal experiences out there because I can relate to some. I went to the mall yesterday to return something and the lady returned the wrong item and man when I realized I had to go back and confront her over her mistake i was a little nervous or just today when I hit up my lip filler dissolver people to make another appt (I was nervous bc we got into a bit of drama before lol) . It really is the smallest things that can hold fear over you, hold you hostage. If I had let fear win then I wouldn’t have gotten money back on a return I didn’t actually return and anothe…
